Tuolumne River, Yosemite National Park, California (#PC0013)
The Pacific Crest Trail follows the Tuolumne River through the backcountry of Yosemite National Park. It is a glacier-sculptured land of flower blanketed meadows, granite domes and fast-flowing streams. On my month-long hike that started in the big trees of Sequoia National Park, I broke away from the P.C.T. near here to follow a trail through the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne. My hike ended on the crowded floor of Yosemite Valley.
