Mountain Goat, Okanogan National Forest, Washington (#PC0024)
A not-very-shy mountain goat greeted me as I came over a rise near Cutthroat Pass. This section of the P.C.T., lying within the Okanogan National Forest, has some of the most spectacular wilderness scenery found anywhere along the entire length of the trail. I am worried about it, however, because it is the one segment of the trail north of Stevens Pass that has not been designated wilderness. It truly deserves to be - the country is indescribably beautiful!
