Zealand Falls, White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire (#AT0024)
Zealand Falls lies within the 45,000-acre Pemigewasset Wilderness. The A.T. clings to the high ridges until it descends into beautiful and remote Zealand Notch. Ahead lies the trek over the Presidential Range where, for a number of miles, the trail passes through high elevation tundra (in the White Mountains, treeline is at 4000 feet) and crosses over the top of Mt. Washington, the tallest peak in the northeast.
