Snowfield on North Sister, Oregon (#PC0019)

Patterns of volcanic dust and scattered igneous rocks decorate a July snowfield on the flanks of the North Sister in the Three Sisters Wilderness.  About one-third of the P.C.T. passes through lands protected under the 1968 Wilderness Act.  The Three Sisters Wilderness lies within the 1.6 million acres of the Willamette National Forest - a majestic piece of property that stretches for 110 miles along the western flanks of the Cascade Range.
