Delaware Watergap National Recreation Area, New Jersey (#AT0019)

As you hike the trail through the Delaware Watergap National Recreation Area and two huge state forests in northwestern New Jersey, you might think you were in the wildest state in the Union.  Deer, black bear and wild turkey are frequently seen.  Considering the state's eco-reputation, the New Jersey segment of the A.T. is truly a pleasant surprise.
