LeConte Canyon, Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park, California (#PC0011)
A spectacular section of trail passes through the backcountry of Kings Canyon National Park. After climbing over Mather Pass, the P.C.T. drops through a sheer-walled canyon containing the Palisade Lakes, then dramatically descends the "Grand Staircase" - a long sequence of switchbacks that skirts waterfalls and provides magnificent views into of the gorge of Palisade Creek and the sweeping beauty of LeConte Canyon.
