Castle Crags State Park, California (#PC0015)
South of Lassen Volcano National Park, the P.C.T. leaves the granite world of the High Sierra and begins its long passage over the volcanic Cascades. The P.C.T. thru-hiker gets one last view of exposed granite in Castle Crags State Park. This is no longer the Sierra Nevada Mountains, but rather the eastern side of northern California's Klamath Range. The volcanic cone of Mt. Shasta can be seen in the distance.
