North Cascades National Park, Washington (#PC0023)

Between Stevens Pass, Washington and the Canadian Border, there is a 180-mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail that passes through a series of huge federal wilderness areas (the Pasayten Wilderness and the Glacier Peak Wilderness are each over a half million acres in size) and the backcountry of North Cascades National Park.  It is a breathtaking country where the hiker's soul is suffused with a majestic solitude and a sense of real wilderness.
