Beaver Pond in Beartown State Forest, Massachusetts (#AT0021)
The Berkshire Mountains spread out over northwestern Connecticut and western Massachusetts. It is my home area and I have included a number of images within a separate "Berkshire Hills Gallery" which I hope you will visit! Beartown State Forest is a ten-minute ride from my house, and I have spent countless hours exploring the nooks and crannies of its 12,000 acres. It contains seven miles of the trail, a segment that skirts isolated Benedict Pond, provides views from rock ledges, passes through glades of hemlock and hardwood, and touches upon a number of active beaver ponds.
