Welcome to the Berkshires, a gentle range of hills that extends over western Massachusetts and northwestern Connecticut. It is my home area and I have spent a large part of my life exploring its back roads and woodland trails. Here, ridge after ridge is blanketed in dense forests of beech, birch, maple, ash, cherry, oak, hemlock and pine. I live on the banks of the Housatonic River that flows southward through Massachusetts and Connecticut to the river's mouth on Long Island Sound. It is a beautiful area and I hope you will take this time to see a little bit of it. Click on any of the thumbnails to the left to enlarge.
